Here's the sequel of Machete and  Machete Kills is moving forward, with director Robert Rodriguez and star Danny Trejo both returning. Today we have a glimpse at an early promo poster for Machete Kills, which will be on display at the European Film Market during the Berlin Film Festival.

Danny Trejo Talks About Machete Kills!

Danny Trejo and director Robert Rodriguez discussed making two sequels to the movie, Machete Kills and Machete Kills Again. The film, which only cost around $10.5 million to make, has gone on to gross more than $40 million, which almost guarantees that at least the first sequel will be made.

The film is the second in a planned trilogy. But with both Rodriguez and Trejo's busy schedules, the question remains: When will Machete Kills go in to production?

"The fan response to the Machete character has been fanatical since his first appearance," Robert Rodriguez said. "Machete is truly a super hero and Machete Kills will be bigger and more ambitious than the first time."

Danny Trejo is in talks to reprise the title role. Robert Rodriguez expects many of the original cast to return. A script has been written by Kyle Ward.

The new film finds Machete recruited by the U.S. Government for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man. Machete must battle his way through Mexico to take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete takes on an army in an effort to dismantle a plan for global anarchy.

An April production start date is being eyed.

Machete Kills Movie (Machete Sequel) by Robert Rodriguez

The end credits of Machete promise that Danny Trejo's popular character will return in a sequel titled Machete Kills. Bloody Disgusting learned that a script is actually completed for the movie, and it might be coming sooner than we think.

In a recent red carpet interview, Danny Trejo had this to say about Machete's return in Machete Kills:

"I asked (Robert Rodriguez) when he was going to write it and he says it's written, so we can get started pretty quick. We went all over the world with that movie and people kept having me sign these Machete action figures, it was a lot of fun. I don't even think Robert Rodriguez even expected that reception and now everyone is waiting for Machete Kills so hurry up Robert Rodriguez!"

Machete is a planned trilogy, with Machete Kills followed by Machete Kills Again. There are no story details at this time.

Machete was released September 3rd, 2010 and stars Danny Trejo, Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Steven Seagal, Michelle Rodriguez, Jeff Fahey, Cheech Marin, Don Johnson. The film is directed by Ethan Maniquis, Robert Rodriguez.
